Update of Homeless Project (*New 09/01/2012)

I declare the Homeless Project is now COMPLETE WOOOOHOOO!

Instead of putting a homeless person in the Landmark Forum, what has been done instead is the money raised was shared with 5 homeless people.

On Christmas day one person was bought food and the other was put into a hotel for the night, given some money and even got a little bit of coaching with what he was dealing.

On the 8th January two people were given money and the third was bought coffee.

It feels so great and rewarding to contribute to people and I would like to THANK every single person who donated and supported the project. We ALL did it, a difference has been made and that was the intention overall.

Love,

Ashley

Update of Homeless Project (*New 01/11/11):

£220 raised.

I have not put a Homeless person in the August Landmark Forum (19th, 20th, 21st, and 23rd).

I am still on the look out for someone who would like to take on this opportunity.

And

I have a meeting with the Big Issue 3rd November, to see what's possible.

Love,

Ashley

What is it?

Hey! J

For 48 hours I’m going to spend my time being homeless in central London in aid of raising money for the homeless community on the 5th August 12.00am – 7th August 12.00pm. My aim of the project is to provide 4 homeless people (1 young male, 1 young female, 1 older male and 1 older female) with the tools to empower and enable them to create a future they desire from absolutely nothing. To create leaders out of them to provide the same tools, opportunities and abundance to others around them in the homeless community. A 3 ½ day course called the Landmark Forum will accomplish this. I’d like to raise £1800 so they each can be provided with the Landmark Forum (£365 per person), accommodation and food, a place to wash and travel during the 19th August – 23rd August.

Will you Sponsor me?

If I have 180 people sponsor me £10 I will reach my target of £1800.

Please give whatever you can or would like. Every little will help! And ‘NOW’ is the best time to do it, ‘doing it later’ = ‘oops I forgot’. You can donate by clicking on the secure online paypal button at the bottom of the page.

Moments of the project documented:

Thoughts, Feelings, Experience...

“What I’m getting present to is human being. There is just human being. “

“I’m present to all my stories, observations that have got in the way of just seeing human being. I’m also present to its easy to give up on hope and go mad out here if you focus your attention on the lack.”

“People out here are really powerful, up in the head to not lose it up here and to keep going and going and going. “

“Not having anywhere their necessarily going. On one level it can be freeing, no-one to answer to, go where you please, no bills to pay. Though on the other hand it’s like you’re alone, period. A balance is missing.... I remember last year a good friend of mine Sai and his mum Mynoo tried helping this homeless guy who was from Birmingham. Get him a job at least and I think a place to stay as well. He declined. He didn’t want it, didn’t want to work. At least he had a nice Indian meal..... Then there was the guy that I met who wanted those things, on the waiting list and didn’t want any other help besides that.... Then there was the guy who would rather be homeless than be at home in front of the TV googly eyed.”

“I’m so confused right now....”

“Survival mode is extremely present and extremely un-fulfilling. No space for creation/aliveness whatsoever, well for me right now anyway.”

“The one thing that I have seen right now that had made a big difference in this journey is interaction with other people. No matter what form it comes in. A smile, a nod, a conversation. There’s this colour that then becomes alive because of the connectedness present among human beings.”

“It’s pretty clear what can and does make a difference short term – spare some money, buy some food etc... but the long term... conversation. Even though the Landmark Forum is an incredible place (though I’m sure not the only) in the world for anything is possible, really anything and the access to that for you, your life, your world, the world. Then the question arises, what about those homeless, starving, friends, family, world never ever experience it. That supreme peace and love. That connectedness to the human spirit, that makes your world, our world? My answer conversation. A conversation ongoing of anything, absolutely anything is possible no matter what. So my question is to you (and if your reading this you were meant to)...where are you being in your life, the world where the conversation of anything is possible is not there?

I’ve come to see whilst doing this project where it was for me. That surely it’s not possible to have people in the world homeless, starving, children dying, people being abused, people unfulfilled and dead in life and the world be ok, be perfect. Now I want you to manage how you take this. What if we came from a place where there was nothing wrong and that it is perfect already with just some things in the way and therefore everything is always working out for you, us, the world. Not how then would we deal with these unpleasant things in the world but instead what would be possible for those unpleasant things in the world? Where I believe that begins is in the conversation you are having right now and only now because as you know there is only now.

“Creation is bliss. Survival is poo.”

“Thank you lord for keeping me safe. Please continue to look after those still out there and keep them safe. Thank you for blessing me with seeing the different people this weekend from the sweet, very cute Saudi Arabian baby smiling and waving at me, seeing  Alex and Marc, Melanie and Vince and of course Kassem Rowland – the homeless guy who gave me an apple and one of the homeless people I would love to help, if he will accept. Even though for me personally this weekend was far from being cool but rough and at times disheartening and I only spent 48 hours of it probably 2% of what the real homeless experience. I think I learnt one of the best lessons ever in my life. And that is interaction/communication with another human being is essential for the human experience of being ALIVE. It is the richest thing in the world that you could give anybody and it doesn’t cost a thing. (Use it wisely, lovingly and expressively from the heart)”
